Knowing The Old Covenant Vs New Covenant

By Michelle Howe

Many people these days have become increasingly interested in learning more about the bible. Somehow, many have found out that it can be a great way to refer to when they are in need of some ways to better live their lives. Among the most crucial points that tend to ignite attention is the comparison between the old covenant vs new covenant.

To people who are trying to seek the answers, they find that they will be stronger and firmer in their faith if they know exactly where they stand. They want to know just what is it exactly they are anchoring their beliefs on. They need to make sure that they get that enlightenment that will be highly necessary to keep them treading the right path as they have been doing so all these times.

It was established that the old agreement was between God and man. To be specific, the contract was established between God, who is holy, and man who is a sinner. Often, the commandments that man has to follow in that pact are considered absolute. Otherwise, he will face the wrath of the Lord. In addition, the final price to pay is death.

It is a given that man cannot keep up his end of the bargain. He will sin. And he will continue to sin. Because of this, God established plans towards changing the agreement that he used to have with man. There is a need for something better. Considering how people tend to fall short of God's expectations, a better way is needed to spare the people from his wrath.

One of the greatest point about this agreement is that it does not depend on the relationship between God and man. Instead, this is one between God and his son. Man has bee successfully taken out of the equation. Salvation is being offered to people in a different light. This focuses on people who ca receive the grace through the son.

With the sacrifice came the good new. God loves the world and is willing to do anything to make sure that the sinning man is absolved form his mistakes and is offered salvation still. Here, the sacrificial lamb is his son. The son has an agreement with God that he will die for the people. As long as the people will believe in him and have faith in him, they can be pardoned from their misdemeanors.

With this, there is a different agreement that has been established between God and between man. This means that the past doctrine is now replaced with a newer doctrine. According to experts of the biblical text, the latter agreement is now more emphasized towards how God encourages worship and encourages people to believe in him. Hence, the new agreement is deemed better.

If one were to compare old covenant vs new covenant, there are significant differences. Where the past pact was absolute in nature, the second one offers pardon. In fact, it offers a free, full, and fixed pardon- as long as one believes.
